I'm still looking in some of my books, but according to Jose Maria Bueno in his Soldados de Espana (p.79) a set of uniform guidelines were created on September 9, 1811 (and made official by Royal Decree on December 12). The cone shaped shako was adopted with the following devices: a golden lion for fusiliers, a grenade for grenidiers, and a horn for the cazadores.
