Madelin is usually considered as the Thiers of the XXth Century, with a big advantage : all what he wrote was carefully sourced. His style is unbeatable.
I've the chance to have the 16 volumes édition, with a lot of püictures. I confess that I am going back to him many times.
He accompagnied my joung years (I had at this time only the 2 volume edition !).
I have also his Révolution , his Fouché.
One of the best french historian, for me.
