In Response To: POW's in France ()

Hi, Marc,
I've read that the Prussians under Frederick The Great put considerable pressure on PWs to persuade them to change sides.
I wonder what methods the various powers put on Nationals they wished to recruit eg on various Germans captured in Spain to join the KGL or on Irish soldiers to join the Regiment Irlandaise.
I can imagine at least some of the Confederacy troops were glad to renounce their oaths to Napoleon after being captured in Russia but I would think the appalling indifference to their fate from the Russians would have convinced many more.
Any thoughts/
