Laurels to today writers - yes - but they pale to books by Kling, Jany, Picard, Coutanceau, Alembert, Colin, La Jonqiére, etc. written 100 years ago - or take Phipps - only a rudimentary study - but who puplished a series of books like those of Phipps et al - about the same topic - or borader - in English language?
The only one I see today is Duffy with his work about the Austrian Army about Maria Theresia, or Henry Laurens about Kléber in Egypt, for the rest - yes some very outstanding single volumes - but compared to those books published 100 years - as a whole - not up to them.
Actually I could live with no modern books published about the Napoleonic Period in case we could get affordable reprints of those above works for the next 10 years.
