Hi all

A very interesting discussion - and while we're on the subject of 'attached', can someone enlighten me as to what happens to "spare" Lieutenant-Colonels and such? I can imagine managing to absorb a few spare captains somewhere, but what happens to the upper ranks - eg - if they're temporarily commanding a regiment, and the "real" Colonel returns from leave, sickness etc?

I'm also interested in their average age. Most of those commanding the 9th at the time were in their early thirties. Don't 'arf make you think!
