You might try looking up French expatriat units in the Austrian army during the Revolutionary period. The name "Tirailleurs Valaques" hardly sounds either Romanian or Austrian/German. Many of the Royal French units in both the Austrian and British armies were conglomerates of several nationalities, so this might be a similar case of the Royalists and Romanians together. True Austrian units bore Austrian / Hungarian / Slovic / Italian names of the region or proprietor, even the Frei battalions.
Just an idea.
