I guess I am still not sure why you fellows feel the "tirailleurs Valaques" was a "Wallachian" battalion of Romanians. In 1814 the Tirailleurs Valaques is a French unit in the Comte de Franquemont's Division of the Austrian Army of Bohemia, while there was a Regiment de Valaques from Illyria-- I can't find any references to Valaques units being associated with Romania or Wallachia. While I don't know all the information you do, is there more to the connection than the fact the Wallachian battalion was in the same places at the same times as the Tir.Valaques? Just curious.
