I disagree that Fallou is 'essentially about uniforms and accoutrements.' That is only one aspect of the book. A good portion of the book covers unit organization, decrees, orders of the day, and who was assigned to what billet, as well as pay and other administrative information that might be pertinent to the subject. At least that is what is in my copy of the book.
I have found it very useful as a complete picture of the Guard and the illustrations support the text very well, which does include complete uniform information. Combined with Lachouque's and Brown's The Anatomy of Glory, it is a gold mine of information.
