Other ranks in hospital

Rory,

I'm not sure what happened with other ranks but I think they received a "hospital allowance" when ill or wounded. I don't know if this was in addition or in place of their pay. Hopefully someone will be able to put me right.

It wouldn't have surprised me at all if the Government stopped pay when a soldier was temporarily unfit for duty. It is the kind of thing I come to expect of politicians & civil servants.
