Was the Patriotic Fund the usual source of these gratuities for wounds? I seem to have heard of it in connection with presentation swords etc (which I suppose one could hock when the pension/grautuity was not up to scratch).

I'd like to know more about what this fund did and also a scale of disability/grauity/pensions.

In a former life I worked at the Repatriation Department where there was definitely a scale of such things.
