Rory,

General Picton wrote before the the Waterloo campaign that he would prefer not to be given a command as he was tired & felt he couldn't take it anymore. I am away from my books at the moment can't check the exact quote but it sounded like a man who was suffering from what we would probably describe as battle fatigue.
