Re: Colonel Rouvroy
In Response To: Colonel Rouvroy ()

Dear Digby,

The original Rouvroy (Joseph Theodor) who was recruited by Lichtenstein into the Austrian service was from Luxembourg and had been in the Saxon service. He became a general in 1763 and commander of the 2d ARtillery Regiment by 1772. He commanded the Austrian Artillery in the War of the Bavarian Succession and had been promoted Feldmarschall-Leutnant in 1775. His father had been a Saxon artillery officer also, and Rouvroy accepted a captaincy in the Austrian artillery in 1753.

Sincerely,
Kevin
