In Wrede there is a table of artillery ranges. For 3-, 6- amd 12 pounder cannon firing solid shot, he gives two ranges, the shorter without `Geller`, the longer with `Geller`. My German dictionary has no `Geller`, but I assume that it means `Sabot`?? For heavier calibre guns no ranges are given for performance with `Geller`. For howitzers, he gives two ranges; `Wurfweite`, which is only about half the `Schleuderweite`. What is the cause of this difference? both words mean range.
