Re: Joseph's chief-of-staff (1812)

Matthieu -

I'm not up on the peninsula, but a quick look in Six shows Jourdan as chief of staff to King Joseph and commander of the Armée du Centre from 28 October 1811. 16 March 1812 his position was changed to chief of staff of the Army of Spain under Joseph. Belliard is shown as chief of staff of the Armée du Centre under Joseph (not chief of staff to King Joseph) from Nov 1810 to Oct 1811. Prior to Belliard, the position seems to have been held by Soult who replaced Jourdan in the post 16 Sept 1809 and held it until June 1810 when he assumed command of the Armée d'Andalousie.
