Trench fever, as well as typhus are spread by body and head lice.

Typhoid, however, is a bacteria that doesn't require an insect vector, but is passed directly from human to human (typically through body fluids).

Not sure what the German word for "typhus" is. Trench fever is the least contagious and severe of these three diseases.
