Artillery Prolong

A big thanks to all who replied either here or via email. I get the idea that in practice a battery could be fired and then moved (quickly?) to a rearward location similar to the way that it was done in the ACW, albeit using a longer rope.

If my conclusion is in error let me know. Alot of the answers were mainly about the equipment while I was looking for more information on actual historical usage by artillery batteries.
