A soldiers time as a prisoner of war in France

Bas,

In 2005 our friend Dominique Contant made a study on the treatment of the POW's in France in the department of the Corrèze (around Brive-la-Gaillarde), after the battle of Austerlitz (I think his study is published on this site). He had his sources out of the archives of his department, so they are really first-handed. His conclusions were that most of them had to work for the French farmers and where quite well treated given the circumstances, so I think that his conclusions can be applied for the whole of France during those first years.
All depends naturally how those POW's reacted against their situation.

Best regards

Marc
