Lachouque is very much an over view of the guides. He gives no organisation, or break down of numbers, and lacks any referencing, so I cannot double check that what lachouque writes is correct or exdplore his source material. To my mind, others may well disagree, he is a general introduction to the subject rather than an indpeth and more rigerous academic study. Surely in the last 200yrs, more than lachouque, Marco de Saint Hilaire and Perrot & Armoudu have wrriten on the guides?
