It was Norman Cross, not Norman Green - just to avoid any confusion.

The parole system was not without its problems, the Times frequently carried adverts from the Transport Office describing escaped officers under the heading of 'Breach of parole of honour'. When Lefebvre-Desnouettes (I think) escaped it was headed "Legion of Honour -breach of parole of honour"
