I'm considering doing an honours thesis in history next year. The thesis length is 12-15,000 words. For my topic I'd like to research military intelligence in the Napoleonic era. The scope and focus of the work will of course depend on the amount of material available relative to the word limit. I'd like to focus predominantly on the French but I wonder if it might be better to take a broader approach. This is perhaps a difficult question to answer, but I'm curious as to what people think and/or know about the amount of material (especially primary sources) available on this area, and how that may affect the nature of my thesis given my particular requirements? Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
