On the other hand, the French used their artillery very conservativly - like at Austerlitz in a classic infantry support arm.
I agree with Stephen Summerfield that the massing of artillery pieces shows a decline in mobility, tactical finesse and loss of quality for the infantry.
It seemed that harassment fire played a predominant role in later battles (firing without aiming just creating noise, see for example the French grande batterie at Belle Alliance).
Massing artillery existed already in the 7YW.
The only person I know who looked well into French artillery tactics is Art Pendragon.
