The blade of my infantryman's sword of the Napoleonic era is deeply and wonderfully engraved on both sides: "Dem Sergent Friedrich Engelmann bei seinem Ausfcheiden, Zum Andenken gewidmet von der 5ten Compagnie 37th Infanterie Regiment". Also deeply engraved (not etched) on the blade is crowned "FWR", Prussian eagle with "FWR" on its chest, and floral displays. I understand two batallions of Prussian Infantry Regiment Tscherpe nr. 37 were at Jena 14 Oct. 1806. References illustrate the sword pattern like the French briquet short sword ANIX or the New Prussian model 1808. With your help I look forward with anticipation to learning more about the regiment and Friedrich Engelmann.
