No one has doubted that the Systeme AN XI was used by the French from 1803-1815. The issue is did it replace the Gribeauval System. The answer to that is no. And many of the French senior artillerymen did not like the AN XI artillery system, most notably, I think, being Gassendi. If the proposal is that the French used a combination of Gribeauval and AN XI from 1803-1815 I have no problem with that and never had. However, there has been too many errors over the past few years on the French artillery arm, Gribeauval himself, French donctrine and tactics to thoroughly confuse any sensible discussion on the subject. And, as a final note, we should not ignore Rene Chartrand's contribution to the discussion.
