McGrigor’s “Wellington’s Spies" & Leith Hay

Dear all,

Can anyone enlighten me as to the veracity of the following work?

Leith Hay, A narrative of the peninsular war – I have access to the 4th edition, J. Hearne, 1850

I’m just reading Mary McGrigor’s “Wellington’s Spies”.

This is one of the principal primary sources for the work. And I note that there was some discussion in Napier Strictures as to the accuracy of some accounts of intelligence gathering, more specifically relating to the location of the French, immediately prior to the battle of Bussaco.

Best wishes
