It's been a while, but I'm still plugging away at Saint-Hilaire. My edition is broadly seperated into "rise" and "fall" which S.H. curiously links to his divorce of Josephine and remarriage; but on the declining side he speaks of a young man who wins a poetry competetion and asks as a prize to be let into the Grande Armée early. Napoléon makes good on this in 1813.
Do the records note a Barjaud de Montluçon, perhaps in Young Guard? Did he die at Leipzig?
Many thanks for your help in advance.
