I Agree. Even if the carriages could achieve high angle fire, the axle would snap. Much of what we have tried to do with our work is over turn misconceptions, one of them being high angle fire. We dont know the cause of the failure of the axles in the penninsular. Faulty casting, cracked or decayed timber etc. British axles like the AnXI ones were composite. What we need to do is produce a substantial text on French artillery and doctrine.
