Interesting discrepancies on two points:
1) Name: is it Adye, Ayde or Willet-Ayde? I had always thought Adye.
2) Date of death: My notes show that it was in 1808, according to the Dictionary of National Biography.
Google link to the Pocket Gunner: http://books.google.com/books?id=YbE6AAAAcAAJ&dq=adye+pocket+gunner&source=gbs_navlinks_s. This is the 8th edition, published in 1827 and much modified after the conclusion of the wars. It is probably of use to compare this to the 7th edition in order to identify changes. Change not driven by new equipment may indicate experience in the wars, much as it is useful to compare the Torrens manual to Dundas.
I see that Google has editions 1,2,3,6 and 7, though not 4 or 5. no edition other than 8 appears to be viewable yet.
