Württemberg Artillerie And All That.
In Response To: Re: Type C - Six Pounder. ()

Well, the Russians put it in the 'Württemberg' column - see the Petrov catalog, page 40, #85 [marked "P. 846"]. But it does not have the markings of the other Württemberg pieces from the Kremlin collection; additionally, it has markings not found on other known Württemberg pieces:

Petrov's 1911 catalog lists under Württemberg:

Three 12 pound cannon tubes, on pp. 46 (#1 dated 1803), 55 (# 192 marked "1849 libr.") and 56 (# 209 also stated as marked "1849 libr.");

Seven 6 pound cannon tubes (include the 'unknown' tube I have listed); and

One howitzer, # 119 on p. 61 (dated 1802).

1803 and earlier pieces - Liechtenstein (Austrian) style; deeply engraved/molded markings:

6lber 180?:

7lber Howitzer 1802:

Collection: Borodino Battlefield Museum - formerly in the Kremlin collection:

6lber 1801 - note dolphins - they're dolphins!:

6lber 1802:

1807 pieces - Liechtenstein (Austrian) style; less deeply engraved/molded markings - one example:
