This forum is really tremendous. It's great being able to discuss an historical interest with like-minded and knowledgeable people.
I've found Andrew Robert's new biography of Napoleon very good thus far. It's a great read though I get the sense that Roberts is more of an admirer than a detractor. Only on page 78 right now so long way to go.
History is a tough subject to write because the author has a certain point of view and will of course marshal the facts to support that view. That is why I think it's important to read around the subject quite a bit by embracing others of differing views. In this way, you get a well-rounded picture of the person and/or event and can decide for yourself what you believe based on the evidence as you have read it.
