Unless you have proof that Cronin did that, it is just plain wrong to make that invalid accusation.
Cronin's research and use of source material is excellent and to make a 'suggestion' as you have just done is outside the Pale. Do you have evidence that Cronin did as you are stating here? If not, the point is moot.
And if you don't agree with Cronin, then I suggest that you should look up the source and the information, if you're actually interested in historical inquiry, and attempt to refute it.
Both Roberts and Cronin came up with basically the same conclusions on the subject forty years apart. Both as far as I can see are intellectually honest researchers and historians and they have put in print what they have found.
