What a terrifying critic! Pages and pages of corrections and things that should have been mentioned, corrections even of name-spellings - Armfelt/Armfeldt for goodness sake! - I'm not sure that the the role of a critic is to demonstrate that they know more about the subject than the author does. Even the works he admires are not exempt, Holland Rose and Broadley are blamed over their biography of Dumouriez because they used English translations of Dumouriez's letters instead of the French originals, even though the work was written for an English audience.
I'd like to have seen him let loose on Cronin though!
