Yes, I would say so. All the errors in the Osprey tilte I wrote are mine, including those in the plates. I provided the basic ideas what to to depict (Steve Noon did a good job in turning my concepts into nice scenes), I provided all the info on how to paint everything, and I wrote the captions.
Of course, if an efficient workflow is organised, errors can be fixed before they have serious consequences.
And in case of disagreement, the last decision will be made by the editor anyway.
But maybe some Osprey authors or artists have special agreements, I don't know.
