In 1802 the plan was to form 6 bataillons of light infantry or 'Jagers' and 12 companies of artillery; a total of 9000 men. Effective only 4 bataillons Jagers and 4 companies of artillery were formed and around 5000 were send. 600 were recruted localy. The 5th and 4 companies of the 8th and 1 company artillery were send to Surinam. The 7th, 4 companies of the 6th and 1 company artillery to Demerary. The rest 4 companies of the 6th 1 company artillery to Berbice. The rest 4 companies of the 8th 1 company artillery to Curacao.
No line infantery was send to the west-indies. 2 bataillons Line were send the Cape Good Hope and Java.
