Good point about the name given for the battlefield in the alleged letter of 1 p.m.

Most (all ?) contemporary orders and reports of the French side speak of the attack of Mont-Saint-Jean, which was the name of a small village, an estate south of it, and the hill south of this estate whose ridge formed the center of the Allied position.
