Tallyrand's memoirs are also problematic, having passed through numerous hands before being printed. See Tulard's "Nouvelle Bibliographie Critique des Mťmoires...", which is a very useful volume to consult when evaluating memoirs from the era.
My problem with Remusat is that she and her husband didn't mind profiting from the Napoleonic regime while it was in power. And didn't mind castigating him when the Bourbons were restored. Not exactly a profile in courage.
