If Talleyrand's memoirs have authenticity problems then obviously they should not be used, but should not be ruled out just because of his known bad character. I would agree that Mme Remusat loses a bit of credibility for having (also her husband) held court positions throughout the Empire and only voicing criticism after the fall, I can see that working in the administration or the army could be considered serving France but working for the court is harder to justify. However her memoirs remain quite valid as long as that is held in mind, no memoirs can be taken entirely at face value, they all have to be screened for bias of various sorts as well as for accuracy. The mistake that is made is in taking memoirs too literally, they provide a viewpoint rather than concrete facts or definitive narrative.
