I draw a lot of information from
Pfaundler / Köfler : Der Tiroler Freiheitskampf 1809 unter Andreas Hofer
Zeitgenössiche Bilder Augenzeugenbericht und Dokumente
There are quite a lot of eye witness accounts and also - at least from the Bavarian side - there are some good accounts from ordinary soldiers, like that of Deifl.
Still I am suprised that N gets such a lot of blame, granted the Bavarians got the Tirol as compensation for being Allies in 1805 from N - but then the Bavarian government violated a lot of Tirolean traditions alienating the population very much.
I was un-aware the the civil Tiroler used airguns, so far my impression, and looking at contemporary pictures - the usual flint lock rifle was used.
