I do thnk some of us--Digby Smith in particular--understand the political issues that were in part the reasons why Mack was in Ulm. And while it may be interesting to know these issues, Mack was neverthelss still there, he still committed mistakes, and he still lost. Are we supposed to feel sorry for him because he was promoted past his competence level?

Always nice to know some background, even if it doesn't much contribute to the outcome of an event, as is the case of Ulm.
