Surprising what you can find at times. Captain Bacchus is an interesting person.
Captain William Henry Bacchus volunteered to serve in the 1st Provisional Battalion of Militia in the Provisional Militia Brigade formed in 1814. It joined Wellington’s army in France. Captain Bacchus had temporary rank in the army and went on half pay later in 1814.
He remained on the rolls of the Militia, as well.
He retired from the army by taking a commuted allowance in lieu of further half pay 17 June 1837.
He married Eliza Arthur in 1819 and had two children William Henry and Eliza.
