As an example, if you look at Marbot's recollections of the battle of Leipzig you will see that he claims to have been sent, on the night of the 15th, to watch the Kolmberg and to have narrowly missed capturing the Tsar and the king of Prussia. He was serving in Sebastiani's cavalry corps which was attached to Macdonald's XI corps and these troops were nowhere near the Kolmberg on the night of the 15th, they did not reach the battlefield till the middle of the following morning.
This story seems to be total invention.
