Partnership with Napoleon Online

I am pleased to announce that the Series is expanding into a new enterprise! We have become partners with the German language website Napoleon Online and have begun sharing material with them. They will be publishing on their site articles from the Napoleon Series that are translated into German, while we will be publishing English translations of their articles. If you have contributed an article to the Napoleon Series, we will obtain permission from you prior to permitting Napoleon Online to publish it in German.

For those who are not familiar with Napoleon Online, it is the continuation of the German-language magazine "Depesche" which waspublished during the 1990s. It's authors are passionate resarchers of all aspects of the Napoleonic Era, but their main interests are with the militaries of the era. Napoleon Online aims to build upon the "Depesche" papers with German-language articles relating to:

- Organizational structure and uniforms of the different armies
- Campaigns and battles of 1792 - 1815
- The soldier's daily life

The different articles are accompanied with online sources, such as the "Martinien Online" data base on French officer casualties, photos of original uniforms, and personal accounts and memoirs of the participants. Napoleon Online also has a lively German language discussion forum, which can be seen at Napoleon Online Discussion Forum.

A site map of Napoleon Online can be seen at: Napoleon Online Site Map

An example of the high quality material we will be translating and adding to the Napoleon Series wil be the German language Napoleonic History magazine "Depesche". It was published from the early 1980s to 1996 and had a run of 28 issues. Many of the issues had color images and drawings. Until we have an opportunity to translate the articles, we will provide a link to the various issues. In our Bibliographic Section, we have a complete listing of all the articles and a link to each issue of the magazine.

Our partnership with Napoleon Online will be a great opportunity for the sharing of information that previously was only available to those who spoke spoke German and vice versa. If you can speak German and are interested in translating some of their articles into English, please send me an e-mail.
