A Discharge Certificate from the Kentucky Volunteer Militia

This document, which measures roughly 6” square, was presented to William Walker to acknowledge his service in the First Battalion, 4^th Kentucky Volunteer Militia, from 27 August 1812 to 10 March 1813. One wonders where Private Walker may have served and whether he participated in any of the opening actions of the war. (Private collection)
