Welcome to another edition of the War of 1812 Magazine. We are pleased to present a variety of articles; reviews, documents and other features that we hope will be of interest to our readers. Thank-you again to all those who contributed to this issue; their efforts have made this electronic publication a valuable source of information on the War of 1812.

Preparations for the bicentennial of the War of 1812 continue on both sides of the border. In Canada, a coordinator for federal level activities has been appointed and will soon be presenting his plan, while at the local level, a network of museums; historical sites and other organizations in the United States and Canada have been meeting regularly, either face to face or by teleconference, to develop specific plans. Initiatives are also underway to host major conferences at a number of locations, including the Royal Military College of Canada. It will certainly be an exciting time to watch these plans develop and then experience them from 2012 through to 2014.

The Napoleon Series, which is home to this publication, has developed a Napoleon Series Writer’s and Format Guide, which provides potential contributors with much useful information on preparing their work. It also makes the work of the site editor much easier; all contributors are encouraged to follow these guidelines.

We hope you enjoy our publication. Thank-you for visiting the War of 1812 Magazine.
