The War of 1812 Magazine
Issue 14: October 2010
It is a pleasure to present yet another issue of the War of 1812 Magazine.
This time, we include a continuation of the series on American artillery
by Canadian historian Donald E. Graves and a fascinating study of privateering
by John A. Tures of LeGrange College in Georgia. There are also book
reviews and other features that readers will find of interest.
This is also the last issue that I will edit. The new editor of the
War of 1812 Magazine is Gareth Newfield, a young student of this fascinating
conflict. Gareth lives in Ottawa, Canada and has a keen interest in
the War of 1812. He brings much new energy to this fine publication.
Please join me in welcoming Gareth and in supporting him with the production
of this journal.
I would like to extend my thanks to Donald E. Grave s and Professor
Don Hickey for their guidance and assistance over the last 14 issues.
They have been a great help, kept me accountable for this publication
and have become very good friends. Special thanks also to Bob Burnham,
whose passion for history and endless work keeps this magazine and
the Napoleon Series going, providing a vital contribution to Napoleonic
and War of 1812 scholarship. Lastly, thank-you to the members of the
Editorial Board for their guidance and assistance; they have always
been of help at the right time.
Enjoy this issue of the War of 1812 Magazine!
