Eylau: Precis Des Travaux de la Grande Armée

French Order of the Day: 9 November 1806

Berlin, November 9, 1806.

The Emperor testifies to his satisfaction with the Grand-Duke of Berg, with the Prince of Ponte-Corvo, marshal Soult, and the corps of troops of infantry, cavalry, artillery and engineers under their command, for their brilliant conduct at Lubeck, and for the activity which they put in their march to pursue the enemy.

Highly pressed, constantly outflanked at all points where it sought a retirement, finally overpowered in any case, the corps of General Blucher, at its most sixteen thousand men infantry, four thousand cavalry, twenty-four pieces of cannon, was obliged to capitulate and to make themselves prisoner of war, to be led away to France.  It had lost all its luggage and its stores.

There does not remain any more enemy troops in the field between here and the Vistula.

Prince of Neufchâtel, Minister of War, Major-General,

Signed, marshal ALEX.  BERTHIER
