Train. 2e bon bis, 2e  et 3e cies détachements. 1 51 82 " " "   125 1,994 2,204 181 166 90 153             Notes: The situations of 17th and 18th Dragoons, though related in the ledgers of the Grand Army as being those of these regiments on the date of 15 December, are from a date before the passage over the Oder, and very probably represent the composition of these corps at the time of their review by the Emperor in Berlin on November 21st.  One should not accept these without examining the situations related in the booklets of the army; but they are sometimes the only ones that one finds, especially during the first four months of the campaign.  I reproduced here on the date of December 15 the situations of 17th and 18th, though I know them inaccurate and below the truth, to show how much the Emperor himself could induce an error. December 6th, out of 520 horses of the troops present in the 27th Dragoons, it had 40 wounded or crippled and incompetent for any service. 4th Division of Dragoons The 17th received, on its passage to Frankfurt-on-the Oder (depot of Major Lambert), a detachment of 108 men coming from the dissolution of the foot dragons, assembled in Potsdam and starting out on November 10.  This detachment is not included in the situation of presented for December 15, but it is reproduced in that of the 2nd Cavalry Reserve Corps for the date of December 25. The 18th received in the same way a detachment of 135 mounted dragoons.  The same observation as that for the detachment of 17th. The 19th did not receive reinforcements; it was rather strong through the remainder of December 15.  A detachment from 40 to 50 foot dragoons had left Strasbourg at the end of September; the main depot was very inactive, because the regiment had not been included in the distribution of the conscription of 1806. The 27th received, on its passage to Frankfurt, a detachment of 100 men coming from the dissolution of the foot dragoons, mounted in Potsdam and starting out on November 10.  This detachment is included in the situation presented for December 15.  All these detachments constituted for the 4th Division a reinforcement of 343 horses, which could have taken part in the operations of December.    Source: Foucart, P.
