Russian Cavalry in 1807: the Sauerweid Illustrations

From the pen of the draughtsman Alexander Sauerweid comes a series of illustrations covering Russian troops 1807. This series is very interesting for it provides contemporary representations of the Russian Army in the early days of the Napoleonic Wars. Although the illustrations are in black and white, much information can be extracted from the highly detailed drawings.

These drawings originally appeared on line in German by our partner, Napoleon Online and are used with permission of the Kunstbibliothek in Berlin. Please note that Markus Stein holds the copyright on all of these images.
