Austerlitz Tour: The Olmutz Road

The Olmutz Road formed the axis of both Lannes' and Bagration's forces.

  3. The Posoritz Post House. This was Bagration's headquarters on 2 December. It had earlier served as Murat's headquarters, before the French withdrew westward simulating weakness. Here on 28 November, 1805 Napoleon met with Soult, Murat, and Lannes and disclosed part of his plan. After the battle, Napoleon slept here. At 0400 on 3 December Napoleon met here with Prince John of Liechtenstein, the envoy of the Austrian Emperor, to begin negotiations for an armistice.
  4. Posoritz Post House: The room in which Napoleon met with his Marshals.
