Borodino Tour: Rayevskiy Redoubt

  1. View to the south-southwest from the Rayevskiy Redoubt. The church building at left, marks the convent on the northernmost of Bagrations's flèches.
  2. View from the Rayevskiy Redoubt to the south of west. The Borodino Battlefield museum is behind the trees just at the right hand side of the image.
  3. View to the west from Rayevskiy Redoubt (the Borodino Battlefield museum is at the end of the lane in foreground).
  4. View from the Rayevskiy Redoubt to just north of west, one of the main axis of the French attacks. On the far side of the tree line is the small stream bed of the easternmost branch of the Semenosvksiy stream, tributary of the River Koloch.
  5. View from the Rayevskiy Redoubt to the northwest. At the very right hand edge of the image is the village of Borodino.

  1. View of the Monument in the Rayevskiy Redoubt, from the direction of the main French attack. At the base of the tomb, on the far side, is the tomb of General Prince Bagration, and the tomb of General Tchkovskiy - whose widow built the Spaso-Borodino Convent on the northernmost flèche.
  2. View towards the Rayevskiy Redoubt from the direction of the main French attacks.
  3. Part of the earthworks of the Rayevskiy Redoubt, reconstructed in 1977.
  4. The Borodino Battlefield Museum at Borodino. The post-World War II structure replaces the 1912 original which was destroyed during the 1941 fighting. The cannon are trophies of the Grand Armée and French Allies.
  5. Tomb of General Prince Bagration in the Rayevskiy Redoubt. The white church visible in the distance marks the village of Borodino.

  1. Monument to the 23rd Infantry Division of General A. N. Bakhmetev. Marks the reserve position behind the Rayevskiy Redoubt.
  2. Monument to the Fallen of the Guard Cavalry and the Horse Guards. Also marking the position behind the Rayevskiy Redoubt.
