Waterloo Tour: Near The Allied CentreBy Fons Libert, FINS These pictures were taken standing on the Ohain road in the Allied centre. On this side of the Brussels-Charleroi road the terrain is pretty much like it was in 1815, except for the fact that the sunken Ohain road isn't sunken anymore these days. Remember that in 1815 there where crops in these fields so you wouldn't be able to see as far as you can in these pictures.
View SouthOn the field in front of my position when I took this picture stood the Bylandt brigade. Imagine seeing the French I Corps, almost 21,000 men, in front of you here. Scary isn't it?
View South to La-Haie-SainteThis picture shows how near the Allied centre was to the crossroads and La-Haie-Sainte. You can see its rooftop on the right of the picture.
View South from the sandpitThis picture is taken at about the spot where the sandpit used to be.
